Rocco is 6 months old! Can you believe it? I surely can’t. Time is going by so fast and I can’t make it stop. In a blink of an eye, my kids have gotten so much older, smarter, and more mature. I have to say, motherhood has been very sweet to me right now. I have been enjoying Julianna’s age SO FREAKING MUCH. Seriously. She’s almost 2.5 years old now and it’s been nothing but sweet and fun moments with her. She has been talking a whole lot which makes things a lot easier for us as parents. To top it off, Rocco is the other best part of my day. He’s just so darn cute and cuddly. He loves staring at his sister all day. For real. He sees every. single. move.
As far as milestones, here’s his 6-month update.
Naps twice a day. His first nap is usually from 10:00 – 12:00 P.M. His second one goes from 2:30 – 4:30 or 5:00 P.M. on a really good day.
He goes to sleep between 7:45-8:00 P.M. depending on his last nap.
He sleeps through the night. He’ll usually wake up at 6:00 a.m., so I’ll feed him a bottle and he’ll go back to sleep until 8:00 a.m. Isn’t that awesome? I get time to snooze a couple of hours more. Sweet!
Rocco has been extremely active lately. Joey assembled his bouncy toy together the other day and he’s been having so much fun in it. (This used to be Julianna’s and I’m happy I insisted on keeping it). He jumps like crazy on it and makes funny noises all day long.
Military crawl is in full effect right now. He has been on a quick move lately going after whatever he wants in his hands. I have been extremely cautious with Julianna’s small toys and snacks because he’s been putting absolutely everything in his mouth.
I think his gums have been bothering him lately because he’s been a bit cranky and having a hard time falling asleep for naps. I have been putting Orajel to his lower gums and giving him cold teething toys to soothe his discomfort. However, I haven’t seen his teeth popping out yet.
Rocco drinks an 8 oz bottle every 3-4 hours. We have also introduced baby food this month. He has tried oatmeal, peaches, bananas, and carrots. So far, bananas are his favorite. He’ll eat 2 oz of baby food at noon after his first nap and the other 2 oz around 6:00 P.M. No allergies detected yet. Phew!
Rocco will be getting a special type of circumcision this afternoon at 12:30 P.M. Typically, babies get their circumcision during their newborn stage. For this particular circumcision, we needed to wait until Rocco was 3-6 months. A urologist (Dr. Casey) will be performing the procedure. The scary part is that he’ll be going under general anesthesia, which means he couldn’t have any formula after 5:00 a.m. (only water and Pedialyte) and/or anything to eat or drink after 10:00 a.m. Poor thing. I hope he’s not incredibly cranky and hungry by the time he goes into the OR. He’ll probably be starving by the time the surgery is done. I’m not sure what the recovery time is supposed to be, but he has to go in to remove the surgery bandages in 7-10 days. I’m worried to death, so please keep him in your prayers.
Because of Rocco’s surgery, we had to wait to have his 6-month-old appointment and vaccinations.
I honestly can’t believe I’m already writing his half birthday update. Time is definitely not in our favor, so I’ve been trying to soak it all in. He’s my last baby, so enjoying his baby years are my priority. What is your 6-month-old baby doing? Let me know below.
Thanks for stopping by!
