Rocco is 7 months old today! Say whaaaaaaat?! I know. I don’t remember time going by this fast when Julianna was his age. I felt like when Julianna was born, time was going by super slow. Like molasses speed. I think it was mostly because we didn’t have a single clue of what we were doing, so we had to slowly figure things out.
I feel like the second time around is way faster. Joey and I feel confident being parents now and we know exactly what to do. But, wait! It’s going by way too fast now. I’m just trying to enjoy and savor these moments because Rocco is probably our last baby. Not probably. For sure he’s our last baby.
Rocco is still sleeping extremely well. He’ll sleep for 12 hours every single night. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, there’s probably something wrong. Like I’ve said several times before, it’s not because I’ve gotten extremely lucky. It’s because I’ve sleep-trained him since he was 2 months old. I’m also pretty strict with naptime and bedtime schedules. I stick to them and the results have been impressive.
Rocco has been playing a lot with toys in Julianna’s room. Sometimes she feels possessive of her toys, but she’ll share them the majority of the time. Especially if she’s distracted playing with something else. Julianna and Rocco have been obsessed with balloons lately. There are tons of them around the house (as if we had a party) LOL!
Also, Rocco went on the swing for the first time. I took the kids to the park the other day and decided to put Rocco on the swing and then let him play in the park’s tunnel with Julianna. He LOVED it.
Rocco isn’t quite crawling on his knees yet. He has been getting on his tippy toes and pushing himself like that lately, but I’m sure he’ll get to his knees soon enough.
He isn’t sitting up perfectly yet either. He sits up for a few seconds, but then if he gets excited or distracted, he plops right down to the floor.
Rocco is still drinking a few 8 oz bottles throughout the day. He also eats baby food in the morning and another one a couple of hours before bed. His favorite one so far is “Oatmeal with Blended Fruits” from Gerber foods.
We recently discovered that he was allergic to “Milk-Based” formula. We noticed that he had some really bad rashes on his back which would make him irritable throughout the day. When he went for his 6-month check-up at the Pediatrician’s office, the doctor told me that he had eczema. We began applying Aveeno Eczema Therapy lotion and his rashes weren’t improving. I even tried using the same brand for his bath soap and still saw minimal improvements. Therefore, I decided to change his formula to “Soy-Based” and after 3-4 days, I saw tremendous improvements on his skin. Julianna was also extremely allergic to “Milk-Based” formula when she was little, so for that reason, we switched her to Soy as well.
Rocco had his vaccines during his 6-month check-up. For some reason, I skipped the 4-month vaccines and didn’t even know about it until I scheduled his 6-month appointment. I prepped him by giving him the Motrin dose allowed for his age 15-20 minutes before his appointment. I feel like it eases his pain after the vaccines. He is such a champ!
Rocco has his 2 bottom teeth now. The teething process wasn’t as bad as I imagined. I always made sure to carry Orajel in my bag and teething toys to help him with soothing. I would also help with discomfort by giving him Tylenol or Motrin when needed.
My baby boy is growing up so fast. There isn’t a day that I don’t feel blessed for having him in our lives. I am so happy to have such a loving, easy-going, and peaceful little dude.
